It never ceases to amaze me how much we can learn from our kids. Here’s a story that I hope will inspire you as much as it did me.
My son, Noah, is 11 and is super passionate about hockey.
Last month we went to Anaheim for a hockey tournament, and his team won the entire tournament — all 5 games.
Noah started the season an okay player, and thanks to great coaching from Coach Jim and Noah’s commitment, he ended the season as a great player.
The new hockey season just started and Noah didn’t end up on Coach Jim’s team. Noah was super upset about it. I told him it’s great to learn from different people, but Noah said he learned so much from Coach Jim and wanted to stay with him.
So he decided to send an email to Coach Jim. Here’s what he said:
“Hi Coach Jim it’s Noah and I think I improve much more as a hockey player with you as my coach. I was wondering if there is any possible way for me to be a part of your team”.
Guess what? Coach Jim said there is an opening on his team and Noah could stay with him.
I was so proud of Noah for taking the initiative and making things happen.
He found a coach who brought out the best in him and he didn’t let circumstances stop him from working with that coach.
What a great lesson for us entrepreneurs. Where have you let circumstances get in the way of you getting the support you need in your business, and what are you going to do about it?
