Have you ever felt like you’re out of alignment with what you teach?
If so, you’re not alone.
The other day, on a group coaching call I was leading, one of my clients shared how she felt like she wasn’t walking her talk.
Her area of expertise is managing stress and she was feeling really stressed out. I could see the pain and worry on her face as she shared this.
So I asked the group if anyone else had ever felt out of alignment with what they teach. Almost every single person said yes.
We discussed what to do about it, and I’d like to share those tips with you.
1. Acknowledge
Give yourself kudos for recognizing when things are off course. You’re an expert but you’re also human. We all mess up, and we also keep learning and evolving.
2. Assess
Consider this a great opportunity to take a fresh look at where things are off. Take inventory of the things that you want to shift.
3. Plan
With your list in hand, prioritize and plan what you want to address first.
4. Share
Share with your clients and your audience what you experienced and what you did about it. They’ll appreciate your honesty and the opportunity to learn from you.
By the way, on the call, I also acknowledged there were some things that were out of alignment in my own business.
I’m so glad I addressed that disconnect. And, as I mentioned earlier, I know that it happens to all of us. The important thing is to recognize it, and address it. Because when your business is in alignment with your values and message, it feels good — and it’s way more effective.
What about you? Are there any places where you may not be walking your talk?
I love hearing from you and, as always, promise to share a personal reply.

So beautifully explained. Thanks so much, Cindy! Makes me feel I am not the only one. Trying to fix a few things in my business along with managing my personal goals. This is really helpful and inspiring.
