If you’ve been marketing yourself online for any period of time, then you can probably relate to this.
Sometimes I feel as though I’m back in high school.
Think about it for a minute. There are the cool kids (the ones who are always promoting one another). There are the nerds who do their own thing and quietly rule. There are the teachers, some of whom really care about your growth and others who are just there for the paycheque.
And there is a lot of confusion!
Now in all honesty, my high school days weren’t the greatest. I was never someone who really “fit in”. I was a bit of a rebel, but not too crazy. Hmmmm…. I guess things haven’t changed much!
So why am I taking you on this lovely trip down memory lane?
Because the truth is that when marketing yourself online, it doesn’t really matter anymore what others think about you. You don’t have to fit in. In fact, in many ways, it’s good NOT to fit in.
If you’re going to stand out in this crazy online world, then it’s time to embrace what makes you unique. Take a position and find your voice.
How do you do that?
You have to find what really lights your fire. What you’re most passionate about. And match that with something you have a lot of experience in. You good, so far?
Okay, now match that with what others are actively seeking and willing and able to invest in. And figure out who those people are, and how to reach them.
When you can do that, congratulations! You’ll have discovered your niche.
I realize that it’s a lot harder than it sounds. Believe me, I know this better than most because I’ve been helping coaches and consultants discover their ideal niche for the past 4 years.
And finding your niche is just the first step.
Once you do that, you need to stand out in your niche. And the key to doing that is having a clear and powerful message that instantly communicates both your unique value and your values.
Then it’s time to package it all up so that it’s easy for your favorite clients to say YES to working with you.
Those 3 steps – Focus, Share and Package – are exactly what I teach in the Package Your Passion With Ease Mentoring Program (check out this value-packed free webinar to learn more about those 3 steps).
This isn’t just a system, it’s about giving you the training and support you need to build your business around YOU – your passions, skills, experiences and message.
So you can end the “high school confusion” and become the star you’re meant to be.
What questions do you have about how to Focus, Share and Package your Passion? Please share your questions and comments below. And if you feel like sharing a really embarrassing high school story, that would be good too!
